As the months of July through end august roll into the Himalayas laden with moisture and mist-laden days,

a wide variety of wild mushrooms begin to sprout in the underbrush of the pine forests of Central Bhutan.

Bumthang becomes the epicenter of the wild mushroom picking season as local mushroom gatherers and international enthusiasts forage in the region’s forests seeking the highly prized and flavoursome Matsutake. Our resort is located a short distance from the Ura and Shingkhar valleys near the Thrumshingla pass where the main concentrations of the rare wild edible mushrooms occur. Our family kitchen is always ready to turn your haul into a delicious meal if you return from a successful fungii hunt while staying with us during this lush and green season.
